What is my PIN?


In Valencia the default PIN was set to the 8 letters English word password.
The PIN is required to unlock and use your private key which is stored on your card.

How can I change my PIN?

In order to be able to change your PIN you need to:

1) Install the SafeSign card management software available here for download.

2) Make sure that the card is inserted in the reader and the reader is plugged in a USB port of your computer.

3) Start the SafeSign application clicking on Start->Programs->SafeSign Standard->Token Management.



4) Click on Token->Change PIN.



5) Enter the old PIN (default is password) and the new one twice.



6) Click on OK.

How to configure Outlook to use a certificate for my e-mails?



This section details how to enable S/MIME security in:

• Outlook

• Outlook Express

• Outlook Web Access (OWA). You will only be able to sign and encrypt message if you have your private key and the recipient public key stored on the local machine.

1) Open Outlook.
    On the “Tools” menu, click “Options”.
    In the “Options” dialog box, on the Security tab, click “Settings”.



2) Click the “Choose” buttons (this holds both for signing and encryption certificates).



3) Select the Certificate and click OK.



4) Enter a name in the “Security Setting Name” field and click OK.



5) Click OK.

How to sign a message?



Create a new message and click on the signature icon.

The message will be signed with your certificate when you click on “send”.

How to view the signature details of a signed message?



1) Open the received mail and click on the certificate icon (middle-right).



2) Click on Details.



3) Select the “Signer” level and click on “View Details” to view the Certificate details.



4) To display the certificate details click on “View Certificate”.



5) The certificate will be displayed as shown.

How to encrypt a message?



Note: You must first have the Public Key of the recipient before being able to send an encrypted message. If you are sending an encrypted message to a person within your domain (through Active Directory), the public keys are available automatically. If you wish to send an encrypted message to another person, this person must send you a signed message before hand and you will then need to store the certificate and public key in your contact list as described here.

Click on the encryption icon.

The message will be encrypted when you click on “send”.

How to store another person’s certificate?



1) Open the received signed message.



2) Right click on the sender’s address and select “Add to Outlook Contacts”.



3) Click on the “Certificates” tab and verify the entry; then click on “Save and Close”.

How to read an encrypted message?



1) Open the received encrypted mail and click on the encryption icon.



2) Click on “View Details”.



3) You can now see the encryption details.

How to enable S/MIME Security in Outlook Web Access?



In order to send signed and/or encrypted messages, you must first configure Outlook Web Access E-mail Security.

To do so, once logged in your OWA accounr click on the “Options” button (at the bottom left).

In the “E-mail Security” section

  1.  if you have a “download” button click on it and save the “setupmcl.exe” on disk,
       then Double click on the saved file and follow the instructions.

  2.  if you have a “re-install” button,
       this means that your system is already configured to support encryption and digital signature.
       Just check the option (encryption/signature) you want to activate.
