WISeKey

Business Overview

WISeKey is a privately-owned company headquartered in Geneva , Switzerland with a number of regional subsidiaries. WISeKey maps to the electronic environment the traditional, analogue and/or paper-based identification methods for persons, organizations and objects. To do so, WISeKey provides a reliable manner of establishing universal secure communications with uniquely identifiable individuals and organizations as well as animate and inanimate objects of tangible or intangible nature in order to:

WISeKey has developed a low-cost method of enabling relatively low-tech environments and entities to benefit from the complex and sophisticated PKI technology which additionally takes advantage of the basic applications available in widely distributed software (e.g. MS Windows). The extension of the usefulness of the digital certificates initially issued and the geographically distributed PKI can be done by leveraging them for many other purposes such as: subscription to online application services, portals, the provision of centralized application services, and the remote and secure identification of individuals, organizations and tangible (e.g. cars, robotics) or intangible (e.g. software code, images, digital music files) objects opening up the possibility of secure remote interaction.

… WISeKey has signed a partnership agreement with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to promote the deployment of PKIs in 188 countries

WISeKey started its operation as a provider of Root Certification Authority service to Certification Authorities worldwide and evolved to a global player on Global E-Security. The trustworthiness of WISeKey's services is based on their carefully orchestrated security practices and procedures used exclusively for the issuance of high-security certificates to Certification Authorities and other entities that form part of the operational services of the globally interoperable PKIs below it. As part of WISeKey's security procedures, the Global Root Private Cryptographic Key used to issue certificates is stored in an off-line high-security facility deep in the Swiss Alps.

With such high-security infrastructure in place, WISeKey has signed a partnership agreement with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to promote the deployment of PKIs in 188 countries with the intention of expanding the use of secure electronic communications. In doing so, WISeKey is also providing e-commerce solutions based on the mass usage of certification and PKI enabled applications to secure the Internet for e-business. This approach changes the entire dynamics of how the Internet is used and will propel its transactional-based usage into the 21st century.

Through the provision of an international recognized PKI infrastructure technology, WISeKey enables companies worldwide to securely develop their internet strategies:
