Mission and Vision
WISeKey is a privately-owned company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The Company
uses Public Key Infrastructure (“PKI”) and other complementary technologies to provide
identity security in accordance with its unique distributed trust network model.
In addition to its online trust model, it has developed electronic identification
technologies to provide identification, authentication and encryption products
and services that allow public and private organizations to identify individuals
and devices and engage in safe, secure and confidential electronic communications
and transactions.
These products are priced at levels that make them affordable
to organizations of all sizes unlike the products of its main competitors. PKI technology
is a combination of software, encryption technologies, processes and services that
enable an organization to secure its communications and transactions by effectively
identifying and authenticating individuals and devices.
Through its development
of a geopolitical, neutral, decentralized and globally accessible PKI infrastructure,
WISeKey has positioned itself to deliver neutral and high-level electronic security
at an affordable price.
Unlike most current e-security methods, WISeKey offers a
virtually fail-safe infrastructure that not only enables governments and enterprises
to establish and maintain their own identity management infrastructures to issue
and manage secure electronic identities, but also provides them with other related
electronic identification methods such as biometrics.
WISeKey uses as its core
identity system the international standard X.509, a standard which is managed by
the International Telecommunication Union. The X.509 standard is widely recognized
and has been incorporated into all sorts of devices and software including today’s
Web browsers, mobile phones, operating systems and virtually all information technology
environments that have reached a certain level of maturity.
As a result of its positioning,
product offering and trust model, WISeKey has established partnerships with public
and private sector organizations which include Microsoft, the International Telecommunication
Union, OASIS, Liberty Alliance, Hewlett Packard, the World Trade Organization, the
International Organization for Migration, the Clinton Global Initiative, the International
Criminal Court in the Hague, to name a few. It has also been the initiator of important
projects such as Youtourist.Net with the UN World Tourism Organization and the Geneva
Security Forum, with the Government of Geneva, Switzerland.
