CertifyID Trust Service

The CertifyID Trust Service is ideal for enterprises, public service organisations, and even governments that wish to provide trusted certificates to their members and employees.

The WISeKey CertifyID service allows customers to incorporate their certification authority (CA), whether new or existing, into the CertifyID Trust Network. Their CA thus becomes part of the CertifyID trust community, and the end-entity digital certificates can be used within applications that trust the CertifyID Root CAs. Using this service, organisations can federate trust between suppliers, partners and other members, by issuing interoperable CertifyID trusted certificates and thus create and extend secure relationships beyond the enterprise perimeter and enable secure communications, document signing, e-mail and other services between enterprises.

Using CertifyID digital certificates to digitally sign SMIME messages and electronic documents, allows users to interoperate with a range of applications and services that:

  • Trust the CertifyID Root Certificates;
  • Validate the CertifyID certificates against CRLs, or an OCSP service hosted by the customer or WISeKey;
  • Retrieve encryption certificates from the customer or WISeKey repository in order to encrypt and send confidential messages to correspondents.

Trust Service for Enterprise:

CertifyID chained certificates that are part of the CertifyID trust community, and are interoperable and trusted by all applications that trust the CertifyID Root certificates. The Trust Service for Enterprise is also part of the CertifyID TrustCenter, and includes:

  • An audit either conducted by WISeKey, or a self assessment by the customer based on the class of CertifyID service desired;
  • Enrollment by the customer on WISeKey’s CertifyID web site of their CA signing request, and subsequent retrieval of the CA certificate, and renewal of the request;
  • Trusted and auditable generation of the client’s CertifyID CA certificate, and subsequent enrolment in the CertifyID community;
  • Authentication by WISeKey of the organisation and contact person within the organisation requesting membership in the CertifyID community;

Trust Service for Government:

Commercial

The CertifyID Trust service can also be used by Government to commercially rooted trust to their certification authority hierarchies, for use in commercial as well as public service applications.

SupraNational

WISeKey also provides another unique global trust service SupraNational trust, in cooperation with OISTE.

WISeKey is presently recognized as the best company in the world able to deploy a security infrastructure based on national Roots interoperating among them via a global ROOT process. The national Roots are essential to deploy eIDs infrastructure as they ensure government’s total control of their national identification process and sovereignty. It also allows the possibility to enable compatibility between different national eIDs in a similar way that a national passport is recognized by other countries in order to allow citizens to travel around the world.

The OISTE Foundation is a non for profit international organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1998, OISTE was created with the objectives of promoting the use and adoption of international standards to secure electronic transactions, expand the use of digital certification and ensure the interoperability of certification authorities e-transaction systems. More information about OISTE can be found on http://www.oiste.org.
